Day 1 : BOURG-SAINT-ANDEOL - VINEZAC (88 on 240 km)
Bourg-Saint Andéol is the starting point of the itinerary to discover the natural marvels of Ardèche. The town towered by its church spire lies along the bank of the Rhône river. A former priory church transformed in a charming hotel will stand as your base for your journey.
You will reach the Ardèche valley at Saint-Martin, the door gorges after a few kilometres on the edge of the Plateau of Gras,. As you will leave the valley with the cultivated slopes you will discover the gorge cut at the Ranc-Pointu panoramic viewpoint.
From there the deep twists of the Ardèche river will follow each other as well as grottoes, panoramic viewpoints, promontories and steep cliffs all along the road. The most outstanding part of the itinerary remains the high corniche which offers breathtaking views over the gorges.
You must stop at the Serre de Tourre panoramic view point, settled nearly abeam the Ardèche river which slips 200 metres below, you will reach le Pont d'Arc. This imposing wayout brings a 30 kilometre trip to an end within the magnificent landscapes of a gorge where both the cliffs and the green waters draw harmonious twits.
After Vallon-Pont-d'Arc, you will reach Ruoms and its old quarter.
You will arrive in Joyeuse then in Vinezac your first stop of the day by crossing the plateau which splits the low valley of Chassezac from the gorges of la Beaume. This medieval village shelters a XVIIth century castle transformed in a hotel while maintaining a great respect of the heritage.
