Have stop in Beaujeu a few kilometres from Pizay, before driving the vineyard hills. In this former capital of Beaujolais, visit the enological pole "Les Sources du Beaujolais" and Saint-Nicolas church built in the XIIth century, the Roman bells of which are perfectly preserved.

The climbing towards the Fût d'Avenas pass will offer the driver magnificent landscapes.

A kilometre from the pass the view over "La Terrasse" reveals a magnificent panorama which covers the plains of Bresse, the Jura and when the weather is clear the Alps as well as the Mont-Blanc.

Situated on the former Roman way connecting Lyon to Autun, Avenas is a small village which makes its living with wood work, moreover the Xth century church contains a magnificent altar.

From the Crie pass, the small mountain road runs around the Mount Saint-Grigaux to reach a pleasant summer resort which has grown amid the grazing and the forests of fir trees. Les Echarmeaux is a major crossroad of Beaujolais which displays a very beautiful view over the Mounts of Haut-Beaujolais.

Des Echarmeaux, you will travel from pass to pass through the mountains of Beaujolais, before driving down in the direction of the Saône valley and the Chevringes castle.
