Le Beaujolais nouveau up hill and down dale

All along this itinerary you will follow a road which winds its way across the most famous vineyards of Beaujolais.

It crosses charming winegrower villages which keep the print of their history: Saint-Julien is the scholar Claude Bernard’s hometown, Salles-Arbuissonnas-en-Beaujolais has kept some buildings of a priory church founded in the X th century and in Charentay the Arigny castle would shelter the Templars’ treasure according to the legend.

You will drive around the Mount Brouilly the hills of which shelter one of the most famous vineyard in Beaujolais, before crossing the Morgon vineyards with their very fruity flavour wines which mature so well.

After having crossed Chiroubles, you will drive up the hills covered with vineyards up to the Durbize pass, then you will gradually drive down towards Juliénas along a road where forests of fir trees and magnificent panoramas follow one another in the direction of the Saône valley.

In Juliénas, le nectar may be tasted in the storeroom of the old church decorated with bacchus style scenes. This typical village has kept some ancient building such as the Dîme house from the XVIth century.

You will pursue this wine tour travelling through Romanèche-Thorins, the "Moulin à Vent" hamlet.

At the end of the day you will have the opportunity to visit the Château de Corcelles Castle built in the XVth century.

The Pizay castle built as soon as the XIIth century will be your dwelling for the evening, a unique stopover at the heart of Beaujolais, surrounded by a 52 hectare vineyard and a 30 hectare forest of oak trees .
