From Alta Roca to the gulf of Bonifacio

You will enjoy some more moments of happiness your eyes fixed on Sardinia and the natural reservation of Lavezzi island before travelling in the direction of the Arapa plateau.

A small scenic road will lead you up to Sotta, there you will be in the vicinity of the archaeological sites of Ceccia and Tappa. If you muster some courage to walk up to the rocky spur of Ceccia you will admire a 180° panorama from the Sotta plain to the gulf of Porto-Vecchio.

Today Porto-Vecchio is mainly famous for its famous superb beaches which make the delight of thousands of holiday-makers keen on suntan.

You will reach the foothills of the Alta-Rocca by crossing a superb forest of cork-oak trees then a scrub.

At the bend in one of the numerous twists of the road you will discover the imposing rocky massif of Ospédale which makes the delight of the hikers eager of unforgettable landscapes.

Through the foliages of the green-oak trees in the Ospédale forest you will soon discover the magic site of the Zonza perched village.

You will not forget to make a detour up to the Bavella pass. Then you will face one of the most beautiful panoramas in France. You will discover the majestic heads of the Bavella peaks.

You will travel back towards Zonza to reach Quenza along a pleasant road in the shade of the chestnut trees and the green-oak trees.

From Aullène you will reach the Vaccia pass then the town of Zicavo towered by the Mount Incudine one of the most beautiful summits on the registered hiking trail GR20.

Further to this superb day you will come back towards Ajaccio through Santa Maria-Sichè the Ornano family’s birthplace.
