A small isolated road amid the vineyard will lead you towards the Noble Valley. The wine city of Soultzmatt is situated at the foot of the highest vineyard of Alsace which shelters the Grand Vintage of Zinnkoepfle, on each part of the Ohmbach banks.
After a moderate tasting of the best Riesling, Gewurztraminer and other Pinots, you will resume your journey through the broad-leaved forests in the under-vosgian hills.
In Lautenbach, the setting of the regional novel "Les Tilleuls de Lautenbach" you will discover a superb church and its Roman period porch.
Before climbing the Markstein slopes you will make a detour through Murbach to discover the Roman church of Saint-Léger (XII th century) where only the chancel and the transept, with its outstanding chevet are left.
At the bend in the road you will discover the Lauch lake and a sample of the surrounding summits.
In summer the winter-resort thatches of Markstein greet the hikers and the Para gliders.
You will follow the Road of the crests, where you will enjoy plenty of views. At the Grand Ballon, the highest summit in the Vosges you will admire a 360° panorama from the Black Forest in Germany Noire to the Lorrain plateau through the Jura and the Alps.
You will pursue your itinerary on the crests which were the scene of fierce fights during the Great War. Some remains are still left at the Vieil Armand. You will leave the summits to find back the vineyard in the nearby mineral water city of Wattwiller.
You will cross a set of Great Vintage vineyard of wines of Alsace to reach the Isembourg castle.
