From the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, between the Yonne river and Fontainebleau

The Bas-Bréau Hostelery is a former hunting house set in the magical environment which inspired the Barbizon painters.

You will visit the Père Ganne’s inn and its museum which displays the pictures revealing the Barbizon influence on the Impressionists.

After having driven nearby the gorges of Apremont you will sink into the Fontainebleau forest and on its edge you will discover the Courances castle (XVI th century), featured by its brick-panelled façade.

Milly-la-Forêt which shelters magnificent covered market in oak and chestnut wood from the XV th century is famous for its medicinal cultures and its aromatic plants.

After the forest massif of the Trois Pignons you will distinguish in the distance the porch church tower which overlooks the village of Larchant. You will have the opportunity to climb the Dame of Jouanne rock one of the most famous rocks in the Fontainebleau forest to have a view from above over the town and its surrounding.

After having crossed the Wood Commander’s residence you will discover the edges of the Loing and the town of Nemours.

Château-Landon is signalled by the imposing open air tower from the XV th century which belongs to the church from the Saint-Sévenin former abbey.

You will cross the Loing valley to discover the Gâtinais bocages and the agricultural town of Egreville. Its heritage (the XII th century castle, XV th century covered market and a XII th century church ) gives evidence of a prestigious past.

Then you will reach the banks of the Clairis and your hostelry for the evening.
