The Picarde valleys between the bay of Somme and le Boulonnais

The domain of Joinville à Eu remains the hunting pavilion for the Eu castle, one of Louis-Philippe’s favorite residences.

At the heart of a 10 hectare park between the forest and the sea the domain will provide you with a royal reception.

You will admire the collegiale church Notre-Dame before sinking in the immense Eu forest. You should stop at the Sainte-Catherine’s pole where you will enjoy a very beautiful view over the Yères valley.

You will find back the Road of Glass and the Bresle valley at Blangy before reaching the fortified Rambures castle. This medieval round shaped castle is surrounded by a magnificent garden in the English style. When travelling back towards the valley of Somme you will discover a typical wooden mill in the middle of the Picarde region at Saint-Maxent .

Near Pont-Remy you will discover a XV th century castle surrounded by a landscaped park on a Somme island.

A bit farther a XVIII th century castle stands out on the side of the hill between the village of Long and the river.

On the other bank the village of Longpré-les-Corps-Saints which owes its names to the relics brought back from the crusades and exhibited at the bottom of the church chancel.

You will continue your journey along the Somme where is nestled the Cistercian abbey of Gard, besides Mazarin was one of its priest.

At Picquigny you will leave the enchanting landscapes of the Somme valley to find back the Picard bocage.

Before returning to the Authie valley you will cross Naours where the cob houses shelter an immense cave network which were used as refuge at the time of the Norman invasions and the religion Wars.
