Day 3 : SOLOMIAC - SAINT-SYLVESTRE-SUR-LOT (100 on 298 km)
Happiness remains in the Gascon country, it is also this spacious home on top of the hill surrounded by a quiet and verdant nature.
At the Eurose inn you will enjoy a silence cure after having tasted the local les specialities and a few aged armagnacs.
You will travel along small twisted roads alternately punctuated with helmets and views in order to reach the Arrats valley. The Gaumont castle which protected the entry to the valley appears suddenly after a bend.
Following the Arrats stream you will reach the left bank of the river Garonne. Take advantage of your stay in Auvillar to cross the splendid square of the covered market surrounded by houses from the XVIIth et XVIIIth centuries and walk until the end of the esplanade where you will enjoy a splendid view over the villages, the churches and the castles of the Garonne valley.
The walled town of Puymirol stands on a promontory which overlooks the plains of Agenais at the confluent of the Séoune and the Gandaille rivers.
After the old houses of Laroque-Timbaut you will discover the Gothic church of Hautefage and above all the Renaissance tower which is used as a church tower. Then you will travel towards the Lot valley that you will admire from the view on the hill where stands Notre-Dame-de-Peyragude.
You will follow the picturesque side streets of Penne-d’Agenais to reach this hill, a town which has kept its former fortified doors.
Further you will turn back to the Lalande castle at Saint-Sylvestre-sur-Lot.
