Day 1 : SAINT-SYLVESTRE-SUR-LOT - FOURCES (105 on 298 km)
At the Lalonde Castle you will come as a heritage, art, nature and gastronomy lover.
Following the Lot flow you will discover Villeneuve-sur-Lot, founded in the middle of the XIIIth century and which was placed among the largest and most powerful walled towns in Gascon country.
The terrace gardens and the former laggio houses in the village of Casseneuil appear at the bend in a twist at the confluent of the Lède and the Lot rivers. Then you will stop on the ramparts of Laparade walled town to admire a 180° panorama of Villeneuve-sur-Lot on the east, of the confluent of the rivers Lot and Garonne on the west.
After having crossed the Garonne river you will approach the valley of Baïse and its vineyards on the hills along the river between Sainte-Colombe and Buzet. After a visit to the cellar in Saint-Pierre-de-Buzet you will heave yourself onto the hill where stretches the town of Xaintrailles with its castle from the XIIth and XVth centuries. You will be provided with a clear view from the valley of the Garonne to the forest of Tardes.
After going past Henri IV’s mill and before approaching the discreet charm of Nérac you will cross the river over a humpback bridge built over Gothic archways.
You will cross Mézin a town which overlooks the confluent of the Gélise and Auzoue rivers and your journey will come to an end. By crossing a small bridge beside a medieval castle you will discover a typically English walled town founded in the XIIIth century according to a very original circular pattern.
