Day 2 : MAURIAC - CAHUZAC-SUR-VERE (100 on 204 km)
You will resume your journey through the gaillacois vineyard towards Albi. After having left the Cahuzac cottage you will reach the Mauriac castle, some parts of which date from the XVth century.
You will pursue your journey through a hilly panorama scattered with villages and their typical names ending with "ac".
When arriving in Albi you will be attracted by the colour enchantment where the red of the bricks and the emerald green of the river Tarn mix together.
The red town is famous for its celebrities : the painter Toulouse-Lautrec and the explorer Lapérouse and above all for its outstanding and imposing cathedral which towers the city.
This building symbolizing the power of Rome was erected just after the Albigeois crusade. It was designed as a real forteress. Its visit is a must.
After having left Albi you will arrive in the Tarn valley at Saint-Juéry following the stream up to the rocky twist where hang Ambialet village and castle.
Then you will drive up the hills of the Tarn valley in the vicinity of Puy-Saint-Georges to reach Carmaux famous for its coal deposit. The crossing of Monestiés/ Monestier will enable the visitor to discover a magnificent sending to the sepulchre from the XVth century in Saint- Jacques chapel before driving back to Cahuzac through the countryside and vineyards
