Day 1 : SAN-MARTINO-DI-LOTA - CALVI (197 on 545 km)
You will start this itinerary from Bastia in the north of the island.
A night stroll in the old town will permit to savor the Mediterranean climate mildness while discovering the twisted streets of the lower town, Terra-Vecchia, in the north of the citade, Terra-Nova, in the South. You will particularly enjoy the illuminations of these quarters and the old harbour.
Between the mountain and the sea you will discover successively fine sand beaches, creeks covered with pebbles, villages hanged on steep slopes.
Naturally it would be more interesting to leave your vehicle for hiking trips in the direction of the peaks. If you attempt to climb the Monte Stello in the vicinity of the Lavasina helmet you will be rewarded with a majestic panorama which embraces the whole Cape of Corsica.
Then you will drive on a corniche road in a wild panorama dominated by the scrub.
Should you wish to enjoy outstanding views you will find them when having a stop in the villages of Tomino, Rogliano or Barcaggio. You will not forget to stop pas at Centuri, this antique fishing port is nestled in a bay from the west coast of the Cape where you will have the opportunity to appreciate the fish of the day in the glow of sunset.
A trip towards the Ste Lucie pass will allow you to discover the Tower of Sénèque as well as a magnificent panorama. A bit farther Luri with its XVII th century church which shelters a very interesting XVI th century landscaped painting.
When travelling back towards the West Coast you will drive along a magnificent small corniche road which will lead you to Canari where you will have the opportunity to visit the Academy of the Corsican costume.
You will have another stop at Nonza and St-Florent two picturesque villages, one all the more beautiful than the other one before crossing the Agriates desert which will allow you to reach the gulf of Calvi.
