From the vast Solognote and Berrichonne stretches to the Sancerrois vineyard

Day 3 : THAUMIERS - SAINT-HILAIRE-DE-COURT (105 on 326 km)

At the table d’hôtes in the Thaumiers castle you will taste the specialities from the Berrichon. Soil. This former fortress rebuilt in the XVIII th century standing amidst its moats keeps its whole medieval character.

Then you will sink in the immense wood of Meillant before reaching the the bocage near Saint-Amand-Montrond. While visiting the local tradition museum you will discover Saint-Vic hotel a superb mansion from the XVIth century.

You will resume your journey through the Grand Bois up to the Meillant castle the eastern façade of which reminds the most beautiful castles of the river Loire. The Noirlac abbey a masterpiece from the Roman art is certainly one of the most outstanding monastic unit in France.

Through the bocage and along the river Cher you will arrive at the foot of the imposing fortress of Châteuneuf-sur-Cher. You will cross the river in order to pursue your journey on the left bank.

After having crossed forests and prairies you will reach the Arnon valley at Charost. This town which probably finds its origins about the bronze age owns a rich heritage such as Saint-Michel abbey church built in ferrugineous limestone during the XIth century.

A scenic road will lead you up to the Reuilly vineyard. The vines cover the hills of a charming area crossed by the verdant slopes of Cher, Arnon and Théols. You will reach the aim of the journey by following the Arnon valley.
