Some bedrooms in the Hôtel Arcé a former Basque inn have a balcony overlooking the river Nive while other ones offer a splendid view over the Pyrénées. When leaving Saint-Etienne-de-Baïgorry you will discover the last remain of a large vineyard which found its origin in the XIth century.
Irouléguy village gave its name to the wine with a controlled label of origin, its red wines being tonic and fruity.

The last French stop on Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle paths before crossing the Roncevaux pass, Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port was marked by the valiant knights ‘ history and mainly Roland’s tragic death. It was immortalized by the rearguard courage of Charlemagne’s army at the end of the VIIIth century.

At Iholdy and its church with a joined outer wooden circle and impediment which display an outstanding unit you will reach la Joyeuse valley.
