Day 3 : SAUVETERRE-DE-ROUERGUE - CONQUES (76 on 262 km)
Upon leaving you are likely to regret Sénéchal de Sauveterre-de-Rouergue a haven of peace and refinement which offers a stay of charm.
Then you will reach the right bank of the Aveyron valley before arriving in Belcastel village. In a country setting you will walk on steep and picturesque "calades" (paved streets) in order to arrive at the castle built in the XIIth century, on a rocky spur over the town.
You will discover a view over the village and Aveyron when leaving Belcastel towards Mayran.
Then you will cross a part of the Aveyronnaise countryside to reach Bournazel. You will notice an unfinished castle which displays two wings from the Renaissance period and embellished with lavishly decorated friezes.
After Saint-Cyprien-sur-Dourdou, you will find back the steep slopes of the gorges of Ouche before travelling down towards Conques.
Going past Montignac you will face an outstanding view over the village, its sloping side streets and the abbey church Sainte-Foy with its pink sandstone shining in the sun set.
For your overnight stay you will come back to the Domain of Combelong one of the last watermill along the Dourdou river.
