Day 3 : DOMAINE DU RANQUET - LATTES (77 on 237 km)
When leaving the domain of Ranquet you will cross a scrubland and chaos of rocks. The perched village of Durfort which harbours many renovated medieval houses stand out from this strange landscape.
The small road which goes along the GR63 will lead you towards the Vidourle valley, the stream of which forme une coursive around the medieval village of Sauve. Sauve, one of the Most beautiful Villages of France succeeding in maintening the authenticity of its side streets covered by arches and vaulted passages which lead to the shaded square at the heart of the town.
After Quissac you will cross the wood of Coutach before reaching one of the multiples roads of wines in Languedoc-Roussillon, in Corconne. Actually here you are at the heart of the largest vineyard in France.
For many years the wine growers have endeavoured to develop their produce. This is why a Controlled Label of Origin "The Languedoc Hills" which gathers the vintages of Hérault, Gard and Aude regions was put in place in 1985. This wine-oriented itinerary will enable the visitor to taste the wines from Saint-Drézery which benefit from a special controlled label.
At the end of the day you will travel along the "Bas Rhône-Languedoc" canal which irrigates the cultivated land between Arles and Montpellier.
